Fees & Services
Having complete confidence in your attorney is most important.
Flat Fee vs. Hourly Fee

Payment Options
One of the first questions you will have when you consider hiring a lawyer is “What is it going to cost me?” When you call Edward Duke to review the particulars of your case, he will candidly discuss with you what will be involved in preparing your defense. He will also provide a reasonable estimate of costs, either a flat fee or hourly fee estimate, depending on the particular circumstances of your case.
Flat Fee vs. Hourly Fee
Most cases are handled on a flat fee basis, which means the client is charged a single fee for all professional services rendered in defending the charge through a certain stage in the proceeding. For example, the attorney and client may agree that the client will be billed no more than a minimum flat fee unless the case goes to trial. However, the fees associated with defending drunk driving prosecutions vary depending on the circumstances of the individual case. There is not a single flat fee for every case. Once Mr. Duke has made an initial review of your case and determined if a flat fee is appropriate, he will provide an estimate based on the specific circumstances of your situation. Mr. Duke bases his estimates on over 30 years of experience as a defense attorney. He knows exactly what is involved in defending DUI / OWI charges, and you can feel confident in both his estimate and expertise.
Some cases may require that clients be billed on an hourly basis. In those instances, the client is billed each month for the time his or her attorney devotes to the matter over the preceding thirty days. An hourly fee arrangement may be appropriate where the circumstances of the case require significant administrative proceedings and/or extensive pre-trial discovery and motion practice.
"A friend referred me to Edward Duke because he had done a great job for him in a reckless driving case. Mr. Duke was very professional and took the time to explain all of the ins and outs of the DUI charge I was facing. He took care of everything promptly and always returned all of my phone calls. I would recommend him to anyone looking for a good drunk driving defense lawyer."

"My husband and I are so thankful we hired Mr. Duke to represent our son. Mr. Duke was very knowledgeable and professional. Robert had made a mistake, but Mr. Duke was able to get the charge reduced from a DUI to careless driving so he didn’t lose his driver’s license. We appreciated his help at a very difficult time for our family. He is a very good lawyer."

Payment Options
Edward Duke accepts cash, checks, Visa and MasterCard. When he provides an estimate to a prospective client, he will discuss terms for payment. Generally, an initial payment is required to secure Mr. Duke’s services. Most of Edward Duke’s clients have commented that their decision to hire him for their DUI defense was an investment in their future, freedom and economic security.
"I was arrested and charged with OWI in Lapeer County. It was my third OWI. I didn’t know the law had changed so that even though my first conviction was 17 years ago, it could be used to turn my case into a felony. Mr. Duke filed motions to challenge the felony charge and won! I could have gone to prison if it wasn’t for Mr. Duke. I will never be able to thank him enough."
